Baking for Good
Project Bake

Helping to create opportunities one order at a time and using
the kitchen to combat hunger, poverty and food waste.
We believe that all people deserve to have meaningful work, healthy meals and thrive in a cleaner planet.
Our Belief
Our Mission
We’re helping close the broken loops of our food system by supporting culinary job training for those perceived as “unemployable”, contribute to food waste reduction for a more sustainable planet, and provide healthy meals for our neighbors in need through our partnership with Kitchens For Good.

In addition to our support of Kitchens for Good, we’re always looking for ways to source smarter and make better decisions to offer our customers the cleanest ingredients and reduce our impact on the environment.
For every order (starting January 1st, 2019), Sweet as Bliss gives $9 (the cost per meal) to support Kitchens for Good in their work using surplus food to combat hunger by providing nutritious meals.
In addition to financial support, Owner, Tara Konitshek, will be helping to mentor students through Project Bake (starting Spring 2019), a tuition-free, 12-week certified pastry apprenticeship program that trains 90 individuals yearly to launch their career in the pastry and hospitality industry. The program specifically serves individuals who are experiencing significantly high unemployment rates: formerly incarcerated adults, foster youth transitioning out of the system, victims of domestic violence, individuals with mental health disorders, and individuals with histories of substance abuse.

Our Partner
Kitchens for Good is a 501(c)(3) and social enterprise with the mission to break the cycles of food waste, hunger, and poverty through innovative solutions in workforce training, healthy food production, and social enterprise.

Personal Note From
the Owner
Growing up, I've always had a strong entrepreneurial spirit as well as, a passion for baking and creating. These character traits eventually led me to starting and building Sweet As Bliss from the ground up. Additionally, I've felt called to serve others through various missions trips and outreaches including feeding the homeless and traveling to Argentina for missions work in rural impoverished areas. While baking and cake designing have both enriched my life, serving others is truly what gives me purpose and meaning.

I reached out to Kitchens For Good through the help of Social Impact Strategist, Rachael Parker-Chavez of Defining Good. The moment I came across Kitchens For Good, I knew they were the perfect organization to partner with as everything they stand for and all that they do aligns with not just my business but my personal core values. I couldn't wait to reach out and meet with them. And as they say, "when you know, you just know!"

Every time you choose Sweet As Bliss, you're helping to support culinary job training for those often considered, "unemployable" as well as contributing to food waste reduction, and feeding our neighbors in great need.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for not just supporting my business but my mission and what is very near and dear to my heart.
